Terms of service

1. Who we are

CarVerify is a private service. We are not the Australian Government, the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA), the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR), Austroads or any state or territory transport authority, and we are not affiliated with them. You can search the PPSR yourself for $2.00 at ppsr.gov.au if you have the VIN.

2. What you buy

• A single, one-off report for the vehicle you confirm at checkout. There are no subscriptions, trials or automatic renewals.
• Every report includes the official PPSR search certificate for that VIN, delivered unaltered as the Registrar issues it, with its search number. The $2.00 government search fee is included in and itemised on every price.
• Report tiers add a plain-English summary and, where stated, information from sources other than the PPSR (the Register of Approved Vehicles, public recall notices, VIN decoding). Those sections are labelled as such.

3. What the data can and cannot show

• A PPSR certificate shows whether a security interest is registered and names the secured party. It does not show an amount owing.
• Stolen and written-off flags come from NEVDIS as supplied to the PPSR. Tasmanian stolen-vehicle data is not supplied.
• A search is a snapshot at the time it is run. Search again on the day you pay for a vehicle.
• Recall, build and decode information is matched by VIN, make, model or year as stated in the report and is indicative. We do not provide owner counts, service history, accident history or odometer verification unless a section of the report says it does and names its source.
• You are responsible for the plate, state or VIN you enter and for confirming the vehicle shown before paying.

4. Price, payment and delivery

Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST on our fee; the $2.00 government component carries no GST. Payment is taken by Stripe when you place the order. Most reports are delivered within two minutes by email and on your report page. Delivery promises and refunds are set out on our refunds page, which forms part of these terms.

5. Use of the report

Reports are for your own use in deciding whether to buy, sell, finance or insure the vehicle. You may share your report with the other party to that transaction. You may not resell reports or use the service to build a database. PPSR information remains subject to the PPSR General Conditions of Use.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Beyond those, our liability for a report is limited to re-supplying it or refunding the price paid. We are not liable for decisions you make in reliance on third-party data that was accurate as supplied to us at the time of the search.
